1 – Winter is Long
Winter’s can be brutal. Wisconsin winters are no exception; they are so long. Winter is basically the end of October through April with the occasional warm up. Don’t get me wrong some things about winter can be great like beautiful fresh snow and sledding, but it just drags on for way too long. The older my husband and I get, the more we realize a winter escape or two are almost a necessity in order to survive the long winter. I now understand why people snowbird.
Tip: Make sure winter doesn’t hit you hard when you return by packing jackets where you can easily access them when you land and put a shovel in the trunk of your vehicle to shovel yourself out at the airport or Park Sleep Fly hotel in case a snowstorm hits while you are gone.
2 – Sunshine
Are you someone that feels like their mood is connected to the weather? Days of cloudy weather can really bring me down. I love seeing the sun out and it can boost my mood so much! With the daylight hours much shorter in winter it means spending more time in the dark. Many people are stuck in office buildings all day and by the time they leave they are traveling home in the dark. Getting away to a tropical destination allows for more outdoors time. Along with getting more sunshine there is the added benefit of some additional humidity; my skin just drinks it in!
3 – Something to Look Forward to
A huge reason to plan a winter escape is having something to look forward to. Honestly, this has probably helped me the most with getting through that mid winter slump. This is the second time we have a tropical all inclusive vacation planned for February and it is making January feel much more tolerable as I know soon enough I’ll be flying away from the cold. No matter what time of year it’s always nice to have something like a trip to look forward to, but it can mean that much more in winter.
4 – Change of Pace
The hustle and bustle of everyday life can wear on a person. You might be commuting to work, taking care of your kids, meeting after meeting, getting the shopping and cleaning done, trying to make time for the gym and the list goes on. I look forward to the easy pace of an all inclusive vacation. Taking a break from the day to day chores and especially taking a break from work. It is important to take time to relax and not be completely ruled by a rigorous schedule.
No matter what your reason is for a winter escape you really can’t go wrong with an all inclusive vacation package. If you live somewhere cold there is still time to give yourself a winter break!
